SannMusic

My own Spotify clone

music self-hosted android ongoing

I've been using Navidrome, Gonix and a bunch of other things but none of them makes me actually want to quit Spotify, until now.

Navidrome is good in every way, but its restrictions on albums and artist directory makes it harder to organize all my music collections. Having folder-based library is what I aimed for. There are also plenty of Spotify UI-like html or clones on github that gave me an idea to make my own music streaming server.

What made me stay longer with Spotify was the lyrics, and then I discovered LRCLIB and integrated it with the Spotify clone I was hoping that could replace Spotify for good.

The mobile app for Android is also designed for mobile use, synced lyric reading, keeps playing while the screen is off or locked (something PWA on Chrome refused to do).

The app itself serves my own collection thats in my home server. FLACs and MP3s I've got from ripped CDs are organized by artist's folders and their albums inside, or independent albums section for mixed artists and albums I've got from buying games OST (or comes free from the game's purchase) on Steam.

SannMusic — player UI with a Favorites playlist

There is not much I can tell here, all the installation guide is in github.com/trisanap/sannmusic — anyone can clone it or fork it and make their own version and edited it. I directed it to be as lightweight as possible, and again... this is just another vibe-coded slop that you can avoid, or try to improve it and make your own version of it by hand, I'd appreciate it.
